Stephen J. Devine, 52, was born in Philadelphia in 1957. He attended The Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 1979 with dual B.A. degrees in Economics and Political Science. He received his JD from The Widener University School of Law in 982, where he was a member of the Law Review and received awards for excellence in Real Property Law, and for excellence in Trial Advocacy from both the American Trial Lawyers Association and Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. He also served as president of the law school’s American Trial Lawyers chapter. In May, 2004, Mr. Devine became a distinguished L.L.M. honors graduate in trial advocacy from The James Beasley School of Law at Temple University, ranked No. 1 of its kind in the United States by U.S. News and World Report, earning additional awards from his colleagues for excellence in legal research, jury addresses and civility. In March, 2004, Mr. Devine presented a demonstration on the art of thematic cross examination based on National Institute of Trial Advocacy’s Rogers v. State case file to the prestigious Montgomery American Inn of Court, where he was a Barrister. Mr. Devine holds bar memberships in the, Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He is a member in good standing of the American bar Association, the Pennsylvania bar Association, the Chester County Bar Association and Delaware County Bar Association. His civil practice is multi-disciplinary and includes representation of clients in personal injury civil litigation at both state and federal levels, commercial transactional law, family law and bankruptcy. Mr. Devine has participated in litigation involving insurance coverage issues of first impression in state and federal declaratory judgment and contractual actions. Mr. Devine also serves as counsel for representative corporations, including General Highway Products, Inc., located in Broomall PA. He has served as a Rotarian and Board Member of a local Salvation Army center. He and his family reside in West Chester PA, where the youngest of his three daughters is a senior at East High School.
